Additional Information to share / Count-down begins

Hello Everyone,

I will be starting my count-down today. I will be leaving for my Ride of a Lifetime trip in 24 days. I am so excited.

I want everyone to keep their eyes open for a feature of my story on Fox2 News. The publicity for the Rose Bowl float riders has just kicked off and the news reporters from Fox2 are finalizing the details with my employer to feature me "on the job" one day next week and also in my home setting. I will be posting updated information one I am provided with the det… Continue

Ride of a Lifetime

I wanted to share with my sorors that I was chosen as one of the "5" transplant recipients to ride on the Rose Bowl Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena, CA. I won the prize because my essay was chosen from hundreds around the country who had to write their personal story on how their transplant changed their life.

I want all my sorors to wave at me when you see me on the float that will represent organ donation and transplantation. I WILL BE WAVING BACK AT Y-O-U.

You can read my story by logg… Continue

Ok I will have to call you..lol....I know the difference, that's the sad part. I imagine them doing surgery on me, "afterwards", and even though I know I am no longer there....just the thought of it freaks me out. I know it makes no sense. lol.....Just pray for me. lol Hopefully I will see you at the next meeting.

It's not so much that I have questions or doubts....I guess it is just uncomfortable to think about, I don't know I can't really explain it. I mean I know when that "time" comes it won't matter and it's not like I need them at that point anyway...but the idea I think being cut and parting with anything it's just hard to accept or think about. It's like when that "time" comes just leave me be. I don't know I'm still praying on it because it is something that has crossed my mind before and more recently after that movie. I know all the good and help it will do and that's the part that draws me to it, because I am all about helping. But at the same time I guess I have this little selfish part of me that just wants to be "keep together" if you will. I know no one likes surgery and stuff but I like extra hate it...if that is possible...lol. So I just have some heistations towards it. But I pray and I am confident that God will help steer my decision. Especially when I see all the good it has done for people. But I will check those sites out, thanks.

Hello Soror,
How are you? Congrats to you. I know several of your Sands. I have been trying to attend one of your chapter functions, but it usually conflict with my chapter's. I have a goal to attend at least 1 function from other chapters each year. Take care

It is a very small world. Yes, I do know Monica. I saw her recently at our class reunion. I met your Sands and Monica at the Walk over the summer. I was the team coordinator for SAC and I worked with Monica and Sorors from DAC and IAC to build a team. I had a lot of fun with them. Your Sands Denise Powell is a friend of mine. I'm sure our paths will cross in person soon. Keep me posted on the date of the next walk. Happy Belated Founders Day to you also Soror.

Hi Soror, I saw you on the news last week. It was a positive story and I hope everyone has an opportunity to catch it. Also congrats on being selected to participate in the Rose Bowl Parade.

Congratualations on being choosen for the float. Sorry I haven't responded back sooner. This has been a hectic semester and I haven't checked this site since I sign-up. Thanks for the offer to consult, but my schedule is more than full at the moment. Besides my full-time job, I teach two - three nights a week and do consulting for a Home Health Care Agency on the weekend.
