About Me:
I'm a laid back career woman who enjoys hanging with my husband, friends and anyone interesting. There were those who probably thought I would grow up being an unsuccessful product of my environment. Well, I guess you can see that they were wrong. I had a praying family that taught me how to make different choices than what my environment dictated. So, because of that, I can adapt to pretty much any thing from the hood to the boardroom. I know my strengths and my limitations and I pride myself in knowing how to "stay in my designated lane"! It sounds funny but it's true and liberating.
After high school I attended Hampton University and then transferred to the University of Detroit. I am a double graduate of The University of Detroit Mercy. Since April 14, 1991, I have been a proud, active and financial member of the biggest and best sorority in the world, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I was made in Delta Psi Chapter and I belong to the ICE Family...the coldest and most dynamic Delta Psi family. I am a legacy courtesy of my Soror Mom, Phyllis Y. Lyons who was made at Delta Upsilon Chapter at Western Michigan University in the Fall of 1966. I thank my Soror Mom for keeping me grounded. I thank her also for instilling in me that Delta was a choice for her and not a given to me. OO-OOP!
I married, Ceehl Phillips, the most remarkable man in the world on May 9, 1998. He's a CT Alumni (C/O 1993) and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. For almost 6 years he was active duty Air Force and he's now a Captian in the USAFR. We've been stationed in Georgia & Ohio and moved back to Michigan in 2002. We have no children but enjoy hanging out with eachother and playing with our godkids.
I absolutely love Triumph Church, my church home, where the WORD is the WORD! No sugar-coating here folks...Pastor Kinloch will lay it down with no fluff and I love that...he is so uncompromising. My husband and I were ordained in January 2008 as Deacons and enjoy serving our church family and the Lord.
I have a Type-A personality and will probably be a life long learner. I am the owner of Aurora Management Group, an artist management company based in Westland, MI. I enjoy shedding light on the path of success for independent artists. Check us out at www.auroramanagementgroup.com. My husband also is the CEO of CMP Design Group...take a look and see what he can do. www.cmpdesigngroup.com.
I'm attracted to anyone who is passionate about enlightening and uplifting things. I'm not attracted to negativity and anyone who sleeps, eats or breathes such. My personal motto is "Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way!"
What do you love about being a Delta?
That this is one of the few things that I can share with my ultimate role model, my Mother, Soror Phyllis Lyons. I love that I am able to bond with some of the most dynamic women in the world. I love the friendships that have blossomed out of my "Sands", "AP", "Family" and "Soror" bonds. It's wonderful that no matter where you go, you will ALWAYS be able to find a Soror!
Hey Sands! As you've probably figured out, I don't get to this page much, but I'm trying to do better. Anyway, hope you're doing well today! I flipped through the pics you have on your page and I was laughing while looking at the one of the four of us on the couch - were we neos then? How come you chose the one pic where I'm looking mad at the world, btw???? LOL! :)
Meri!!! How goes it? I haven't been on here in months! My phone broke and lost all my contacts (ugh) Here's my new # 313-978-0911

LOL! It really is funny! But what's funnier is that I've gotten used to it and when I hear Shameika I tune it out because I think someone's calling my dean! LOL! I wonder if I'll ever get my name back?
Thank you so much Meri for the Anniversary wish. I really do not check on my email very often as you can see. How have you been? How is Ceephl? I hope that all is well with you both. Love ya. Terea.
